Elephants lovingly protect the caretaker from rain in viral video: “Don't worry, everything will be fine” | Deployment

A heartbreaking video that takes up the delicate bond between two elephants and her caretaker has attracted widespread attention on the Internet and reminded the spectators of the profound emotional depth that these great animals have.

The video was shared by Lek Chailert, founder of the Save Elephant Foundation in Thailand, and shows a touching moment during a rainstorm in which two elephants – Chaba and Thong Ae – almost protect their caretaker from the flowing rain. The film material, which was published on Chailert's account, has collected over 3.1 million views and continues to touch the hearts on the Internet.

“When the thunderstorm rolled up, Chaba and Tanga and Tanga, who instinctively moved to protect me from the rain, came up with their bodies,” wrote Chailert in the lettering. “When I put on my raincoat, Chaba gently checked me and touched me with her trunk and then gave me a sweet suitcase – as if I should say: 'Don't worry, everything is fine.'”

More than just camaraderie

Chailert's caption eloquently conveys the emotional intelligence of elephants and its ability to empathize: “Elephants are deeply emotional beings. Your love and concern extend beyond your herd. If you trust someone and take care of someone, you welcome this person as your own.”

She continues: “If we humans really open our hearts and see elephants as fellow human beings – not as animals, but as a life that is the same – we would discover the gentle, sincere beauty that they wear. Through their expressions, we experience the true meaning of pure love – a love without conditions, full of empathy and offers with deep distress.”

The online reaction was mostly positive, with the audience flowing into the comments in order to express their awe. Many described the behavior of the elephants as “incredibly sweet” and “nice” movable. Some users shared personal experiences with elephants, others are amazed at their intelligence and emotional depth. Some even admitted that the video brought them to tears while others simply wrote: “This is love” and “humiliating”.
