Fire achieved late to defeat Atlanta for the first home win of the season

Hugo Cuypers scored at a penalty in the first half and Rominigue Kouamé delivered the winner late in the second half when the fire won at home for the first time this season with a 2-1 win against Atlanta United on Saturday.

Kouamé scored in the 86th minute after he was immersed in the 81st Sergio Oregel. It was his second goal in his sixth career appearance. The fire (4-4-4) had become 0-4-1 due to its first five games.

Atlanta United (2-6-4) never found the network, but his own goal of the Chicago defender Sam Rogers tied it in the 80th minute with 1: All.

Cuypers scored a penalty in the 14th minute and the fire took the lead 1-0 in the half. The PK was awarded after a foul in Atlanta United midfielder Alexey Miranchuk.

Jeff Gal started his first career and ended with two parades for the fire. Gal gave his league debut last week after the starter Chris Brady was sent with a red card with Orlando City in the 36th minute of a goalless draw with a red card.

Brad Guzan saves six shots for Atlanta United. Guzan had two parades and a gal in the first half.

Atlanta United heads the all-time series 8-5-3, but has never won at Soldier Field. The club has a minus 9 goal difference and has not won on the street this season.

Maren Haile-Selassie was the only current chicago player with a goal against Atlanta. In the 81st minute he went on the game and achieved his second assist of the winner this season, while the 21-year-old striker Omari Glasgow collected his first in his 13th career appearance after he had also entered Haile-Selassie.

Atlanta United returns home on Wednesday to play the Philadelphia Union. The fire to play Charlotte FC on Saturday.
