The Tech billionaire Bill Gates said that he would probably diagnose autism if he became growing up today, and quoted his childhood characteristics of obsessive focus, poor social skills and occasional impact.

In an excerpt from his memoir “source code: my beginnings”, published on February 4th and shared by von von The Wall Street JournalThe 69-year-old co-founder of Microsoft: “If I grew up today, I would probably be diagnosed in the autism spectrum.”

“My parents had no travel posts or textbooks that help them understand why their son was so obsessed with certain projects, missed social information and could be rude or inappropriate without realizing its effects on others.”

Gates, whose net assets were $ 107.5 billion on April 14, found that the concept of neurodiversity was not generally understood during his youth, whereby the term gained in importance in the nineties.

His social awareness, he said, was “with age, with experience, with children” and added: “I'm better for that.”

Despite the challenges he was confronted with, Gates said that he would not change “his brain” for anything. In an interview with The timesHe explained: “If you ever invent a pill where you could say:” Ok, your social skills will be normal, but your ability to concentrate would also be normal, “I would not take the pill” and added that it was this unique cognitive cabling that made it possible for him to write his first code as a teenager and to lay the reason for the early success of Microsoft.

Several prominent personalities spoke openly about their neurodiversity, including the billionaire Elon Musk, who revealed in 2021 that he had an Asperger syndrome, an illness that was now recognized as part of the broader autism spectrum.
