SLC Sheriff's Office examines death in BWCA

The sheriff's office has announced that a deceased person was found in the BWCA.

On May 10th at 2:18 p.m., the Us Forest Service employees reported a capsized canoe on Iron Lake. After further investigations, the Forest Service discovered a deceased person and their equipment near the canoe.

According to the sheriff's office, the deceased party was found in a life jacket and was said to be on a single trip in the border waters.

The name of the late Canoer was not released until the next relatives were commissioned to inform relatives.

The situation is now being examined by the Sheriff of the St. Louis County and the Medical Examiner Midwest office.

The Sheriff's office in St. Louis County has confirmed that a deputy and rescue squad reacted to a first report on a body that was found on May 10 at the foot of the curtain towers on Iron Lake in the BWCA.
