Mother almost killed, Milwaukee family and hopes for closures years later

It was eight years since a hit-and-run driver almost killed a Milwauke mother in the morning before Mother's Day. When she fights when you are for health challenges and time, your family still becomes closure in the form of an arrest.

Hit-and-run

The background story:

Relatives call Amorita Ivy a survivor. She grabbed food from her car in the Lovers Lane when the police said that a driver beat her and decreased in 2017.

“My daughter called me, screamed and roaring,” said family member Naco Dye. “My heart just fell. I thought what?”

Ivy lost a leg and her voice box after this close death experience. Surgeons have operated on their opera more than 150 times. And nobody was arrested during this time.

“It is very painful, as I said, physically and emotionally,” said Ivy.

“It didn't smash them, but at the same time, whoever they are, they have to do right,” said Dye. “It's been a long time.”

Health challenges

Grab deeper:

The family comes together on every Mother's Day to celebrate Ivy's survival history. But Dye said that time is particularly precious this year: Ivy is fighting level 5 kidney disease.

On this Mother's Day, Dye hopes that Ivy and the family will receive the gift of closure, which they have hoped for since the day who has changed everything.

What you can do:

Fox6 News turned to the Milwaukee Police Department with questions about Ivy's case, but did not hear the deadline for this story.

If you know something that could help you find the person responsible, the family asks you to call MPD.
