Can Trump rename the Persian Gulf?

President Trump has changed the name of the Persian Gulf to the Arabic Golf, which made Iran and its population angry to the Middle East next week.

“I have to make a decision,” said Mr. Trump on Wednesday in the Oval Office. “I don't want to hurt the feelings of anyone. I don't know if feelings are injured.”

Last week, the Associated Press reported that Mr. Trump was planning to announce the renaming on his tour through several Arab countries that have been used for the change for years.

The turquoise blue water has been in at least 550 BC. BC called Persian Golf, as the Persian dynasty of Cyrus, the Great, ruled a realm that exceeded from India to the edges of Western Europe. Ancient Persia is now the modern Iran and its entire south coast extends along the Persian golf.

The Iranian governments that return to the era of the preliminary revolution of the Shah have strongly defended the Persian Gulf as the only legitimate name. In this way, Iranians have inside and outside the country, which regard the name as a central part of their national and cultural identity.
