Jaimon Gilstrap, Kyrin Schumpert, Donald Lester and Wayne Walls from Oklahoma lost their lives.

Four others from Oklahoma outside of Oklahoma also died in the crash.

Ray Mahone is a basketball coach of the Union Freshman Academy.

He said he had known the 14-year-old Kyrin since his first class and came close to him through basketball.

Coach Mahone also said that he recently got tight with Kyrin's father, who also lost his life in the crash.

“It definitely hurts because it is definitely so unexpected,” he said. “As a person, he was so modest that he was so polite, respectful. I never got involved in school in relation to the disregard for teachers or coaches or something.

Through all his interactions with him, Mahone said that he was like a son for him and a brother of his own son.

Many of Kyrin's teammates also came to the vigil and said that it was a bit more bearable to be surrounded by beloved people.

“It helps me mostly with the closure, because when I heard about it, it is still difficult to believe,” said Noah Bowman. “Coming at this point and seeing all these people who also take care of him is just good and nice.”

Xiden Mahone said he was still shocked by the accident.

“I had seen everyone else posted it, but I wrote him an SMS and never received an answer, so I knew something was wrong,” he said. “I think it is important that people are related in such a situation because I have the feeling that everyone is together who helps everyone to search such pain.
