Stone leaves game 3 due to an injury to the upper body in golden knights

Edmonton – The Vegas Golden Knights achieved a massive 4: 3 victory against the Edmonton Oilers in game 3 of the second Western Conference, two periods without captain Mark Stone on Saturday.

After an injury to the upper body, Stone left the first period and, according to Vegas coach Bruce Cassidy, is daily. Game 4 of the best-of-7 series, which Edmonton leads 2-1, is located on Monday (9:30 p.m. ET; CBC, TVAS, SN, TNT, Trutv, Max).

“We will see how he feels tomorrow,” said Golden Knights coach Bruce Cassidy. “Obviously he didn't return, but it doesn't conclude him to play the next game, we will know more tomorrow.”

Vegas striker had six layers in the first period for 5:54 ICE time. He had no point and was minus-1.

Stone's last postponement of the time lasted 34 seconds and ended at 1:40 p.m. The captain of Golden Knights has eight points in nine Playoff games (four goals, four templates). He had four points in the first two games in the series against Edmonton (two goals, two templates).

“We did it quite well, the boys wanted to pick him up,” said Cassidy. “What it does enables other players like a Reilly Smith to get more opportunity. He has more opportunity to play and took advantage of it.”

Despite his absence, Vegas was able to step back 54 seconds of a 2-0 deficit with goals from Nicolas Roy and Smith at 3:17 p.m. and 16:11 of the first period. William Karlsson gave the Golden Knights the lead at 5:05 p.m. in the second half and Smith scored the winner goal at 7:59 p.m. of the third with a 0.4 second lead on the clock.

“You cannot replace a man like Mark Stone, so the best thing you can do is try not to make him on the way,” said Smith. “He is a great player and he is also a great leader in the changing room, so everyone only has to do a little more, and I think that was our attitude for the rest of the game and we will see what happens for the rest of the series.”

It was unclear at what point in the first period Stone suffered his injury. In his third layer of the game, Stone fell in front of Oilers striker Corey Perry, who apparently was contacted with his left -handed wrist run. Stone returned to play three more layers before leaving the game.

“You never want to see that someone has to leave the game, especially a man like him who leads us emotionally on the ice and in the room,” said Vega's defender Nicolas Hague. “I know that it is definitely difficult for him and as a group is also hard for us. This is definitely in mind when we are out there. He wants to be out there than any other who fights with us, and it makes a win so much that we could get one for him.”
