Swiss couple Bencic, Teichmann back in the top 100

Comacks and fresh faces stood out last week on the Hologic WTA Tour about the WTA 500 by Abu Dhabi, Cluj-Napoca WTA 250 and Mumbai WTA 125.

Belinda Bencic delivered a remarkable title run in Abu Dhabi. Just 10 months after the birth of her daughter Bella, the former world No. 4 in Abu Dhabi returned to the familiar territory, where she last won a trophy in 2023. Bencic returned to the campaign in October and played three tournaments in ITF and WTA 125 (as well as the playoffs by Billie Jean King Cup). But Abu Dhabi was the fourth tournament of her return to Tour Level in 2025.

A wildcard rank in 157th place, Bencics Lauf, included the second tour level 6-0, 6-0 victory of her career (via Veronika Kudermetova in the second round) and her first top 5 victory since April 2023 about defending champion Elena Rybakina in the semi-finals. Bencic, who now has a perfect 9-0 record in Abu Dhabi, sets 92 places in 65th place in July after completing the top 100.
