'Even the strongest would break B

“This is the second video that we received in a month and a half,” said Avi Ohana. “It is very difficult to see. The suffering you go through is obvious. I am deeply worried about my son. He is someone who has always taken care of others – that's why he was kidnapped in the first place.

“All of his friends had evacuated, but he said:” I will not leave the wounded behind “and remained on October 7th. Then the terrorists captured him. They can see the same thing in this video – he helps Elkana.”

In the latest film material, Yosef Chaim announces that he starts a hunger strike. “If he said it, he will do it,” said Avi. “This is my son. He said he would stop eating to shake the country awake.”

The previous video, which also showed both men, appeared about a month after the host of the hostage contract and only a few days after the IDF was set up in Gaza. Avi remembered this moment: “It came out shortly after Ohad Ben Ami's release – he was in captivity with them. They had hope. They thought the publications were based on age: first people in the 50s, then 30, then 20s. They believed that in the tunnel.”

In the comparison of the two videos, AVI said that his son now appears in much worse condition. “I know my son – he is not someone who breaks slightly. But he breaks now. If he has to fight like this, they all have to be. It was 583 days ago. The strongest person would now break.”

When asked whether he could recognize the difference to the previous video, Avi bluntly replied: “Yes. We are very disappointed with the decision -makers. We said various things on the way.

“I will not name names, but the families of the hostages are deeply disappointed. Even if the government does something – it's not enough. Don't tell us everything. This is the worst failure in the country's history.

He also criticized the renewed fights in Gaza: “Another war? God forbid that more people die. Catch from the front – with no end in sight. We feel completely helpless.”

Avi said prayer keeps him running. “We pray every day. You cannot eat or drink if you know that your son is in this state. It is unbearable – and it has to stop. The country does not want to war. How much more can we fight? What have we not tried?”

“It is now clear that the top priority will destroy the Hamas and only then see how to free the hostages. So the liberation of them has become secondary.

“The most important thing is to bring them home. Even if they destroy the Hamas but do not bring the hostages back – we lost this war. Even if you are left behind, we have lost.”

“This is another devastating video,” wrote Ben Ami on Facebook. “Elkana seems to be on an IV drop after trying to desperate. He is silent. Yosef announces that they start a hunger.”

Avi said he visited Ben Ami about two months ago. “He told me everything. He was in a tunnel with my son for about seven months. My son was originally captured in an apartment. Ohad said he was very tied to him – he felt like his own son.”

He also told what Ohad told him about captivity: “They were tied up by their legs, hands and blind uses. They were starved, beaten and threatened. Ohad said there was a miracle.”
