The investigations carried out by the Sassari Financial Police were triggered after a bank reported suspicious movements to the accounts of the woman and submitted a complaint by the mayor. The analysis of the operations resulted in a well-established system of false payment orders with general reasons such as “plus”, “reimbursement” and “mission”, which all aim to finance personal expenses, including online purchases and purchases in Sassari branches. During the searches, around 130,000 euros were still stored in the official's personal account. It is believed that the remaining sum was used to buy luxury goods.
