Man admits to help after killing cop -dump bodies in the river

A man from Tennessee, who helped a service-free Memphis policeman, put down the body of a victim who was allegedly murdered in a patrol car.

The 33 -year -old Joshua M. Rogers is up to 70 months ago – or 5 years, 10 months – behind bars after entering a guilty plea on Thursday, the US Ministry of Justice announced in a press release. According to Feds, the police officer kidnapped Memphis, Patric J. Ferguson, on January 5, 2021, 30-year-old Robert Lee Howard Jr. with a gun held up and forced him to his patrol car, where he shot him in the head.

The public prosecutor says that Ferguson then provided the help of Rogers to dispose of the body. They transmit the body to Rogers' car, where they “chains, paddle and ash -blocks attached to the body and drove to the Wolf River in Memphis, where they throw the body.

“In this case, the accused hindered the law enforcement authorities to investigate and search for justice in the name of the victim, family and his friends,” said the deputy attorney in General Harmeet K. Dhillon of the Civil Rights Department of the Ministry of Justice. “I am proud of the great work of the Ministry of Justice in the persecution of this case.”

The conviction is set for August 6th.

As Law & Crime previously reported, the 34 -year -old Ferguson is exposed to state charges for murder, kidnapping, manipulation with evidence, abuse of a body, official misconduct and official oppression. In May 2024, a federal jury gave an indictment against eight points against charges, including federal civil rights, kidnappings and arms forces.

Both cases remain. The federal procedure is scheduled for a legal proceedings on November 3, while Ferguson will have a court hearing in the state case next month.

Howard's girlfriend reported that he had missed the day after the murder. The authorities restored Howard's body on January 10, 2021. The police arrested Ferguson and Rogers a few days later. A state -owned Grand jury charged her in May 2021. The Federal Grand Jury also charged Rogers that he had conspired to cover up the fatal shootout and destroy evidence.
