My mother, the reluctant wax collector

This article was published for the first time on May 7, 2022Present In the Hodinkee Shop Journal.

When I started to write this essay, the article, the article, the article, this article, I wondered how I would write about my mother's two watches, and I also recognize everything she did for me and everything around her in honor of the mother day. The more I thought about it, the more I realized that it was less a story about the watches and more about the people from whom they came, and their relationships with them.

My mother, Maria Herminia Vidal Colls, would never see himself as a collector of watches, but here we like Hodinkee by using her names and girls names and writing about how she is actually a watch collector, and I dare to add it to. If you ask her, she cannot deny that it is special pieces, but you still have nothing that she would have been looking for. She would much prefer to travel, read a book or share a good meal with family and friends. Apart from watches, she collects art and antiques with my father (a pastime that I enjoyed shared with my family when I grew up). And she is also a pedagogue, professor of Spanish, literature and Latin American history in the past 30 years.
