Sweden's newly appointed national security advisor has resigned only a few hours after his new role began after sexually explicit pictures of him in the Grindr dating app was sent to the government.

Tobias Thyberg, who took over the position on Thursday and resigned until Friday morning, had not disclosed this information, according to government officials, during his security approval procedure.

Thyberg was supposed to accompany the Prime Minister in Norway for a meeting in Northern European leader in Norway on Friday, but his participation was canceled.
