Trump to get luxury jet for Air Force One from Qatar

US President Donald Trump will receive a luxury -jumbo jet from the Katar royal family, which is used as a presidential aircraft.

According to the US media reports, the aircraft is not immediately ready for use because it has to be retrofitted. The US government also plans to check the gift for spy devices.

In an unusual agreement, the aircraft will also be donated to Trump's presidential library at the end of its term of office, Sources informed us of the media.

The news of the gift comes when Trump will visit Qatar this week, while starting a trip to the Middle East, the first major trip abroad of his second term.

The value of the gift and its handling will certainly raise legal and ethical questions among critics.

The current fleet of the White House comprises two Boeing 747-200B aircraft, which, according to the US Air Force, were adapted with special communication equipment and features such as a cabin, an office and a conference room. The aircraft have been used since 1990 and 1991.

Air Force one aircraft usually transfers to other administrations. According to the National Archives, only the Reagan Presidential Library has an Air Force One Jet and flew seven presidents before it was donated.

Qatar is supposed to offer the Trump administration a version of a Boeing 747-8, a much newer model that upgrades ABC reports into a “flying palace”.

Boeing had been obliged to supply the White House with newer aircraft, but Trump complained that the company was behind the schedule at the beginning of this year. During his first administration, his government initially negotiated with Boeing for two specialized 747-8 aircraft.

The aircraft manufacturer said that the plane was only available in 2027 or 2028.

“No, I'm not satisfied with Boeing. It takes a long time for you to do Air Force One, we published this contract a long time ago,” said Trump in February.

“We can buy an airplane or get an airplane or something.”

During his first term in office, Trump had a positive diplomatic relationship with Qatar, which included an announcement in 2019 that the country would make a great purchase of American aircraft.

Qatar has previously given private jets as gifts for other countries, e.g. B. a luxury plane from Türkiye in 2018.
