Punjab: Two arrested because he was arrested

Punjab's police arrested two people on Sunday for their alleged participation in espionage activities that were associated with a Pakistani official in the High Commission in Neu -Delhi. The suspects are accused of entering their Pakistani handler classified information about the Indian army, civil servants said.

According to the General Director of the police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav, a person who was accused of transferring sensitive information about movements of the Indian army to a handler based in Pakistan was first arrested, and his subsequent survey led to the identification of the second person, who is supposedly a key mediator within the network.

“Preliminary examinations show that the accused received payments through online transactions in exchange for classified information,” said Yadav. “They were often in contact with the handler and, according to his instructions, were involved in other local employees in other local employees.”

Two mobile phones were restored during operation, and in this case a FIR was registered.

The DGP described the development as a considerable step in the disassembly of cross-border espionage networks and emphasized the obligation of the Punjab police for national security. “This operation marks a significant step in dismantling cross-border espionage networks and strengthens our commitment to national security,” he said.

According to the specified protocol, further examinations are carried out, with the focus on the pursuit of the financial track and the identification of additional employees and links within the network, he added.

The development takes place days after the Punjab police arrested two more photos of sensitive places and Pakistani telephone numbers were recovered from the suspects' mobile phones.
