Papa, who is charged because of the hot car death of the 2-year-old daughter, is approved by Hawaii's trip with wife, kids

Tucson, Arizona (Kold/Gray News)-A father from Arizona, who is charged with the death of his 2-year-old daughter, whom he supposedly left in a hot car, was allowed to go on vacation to Hawaii.

Christopher Scholtes was able to visit Maui with his wife and two daughters from May 2 to 9.

During the trip, Scholtes was instructed to turn to the state after leaving Arizona and after his return. He was also ordered not to have unattended contact with children.

Scholtes is charged with the first degree murder and child abuse because of the death of his 2-year-old daughter in a hot car in July 2024.

According to court documents, the temperature in July was 109 degrees.

The vehicle was parked in direct sunlight with the car seat on the driver's driver's driver, which was a window to the west. Scholtes knew that he had left his 2-year-old daughter in the vehicle.

The police said Scholtes told the officials that he had taken his daughter on some errands and then went home. She slept in her car seat, so he left her in the vehicle as he went in.

He claimed that he had the vehicle with the AC. When he went outside, the car was over and his daughter was passed out.

He admitted to know about the automatic barrier function of the car, while video and documents pointed out that he was in his house for up to three hours.

Scholtes rejected a chance in a 10- to 25-year prison sentence when he rejected a second degree murder to pursue a possible life sentence in October.
