Although the originals were milestone in the medium, the new iterations take the essence of what made them great and expand these aspects for a modern audience. Will DOOM: The dark age is the best iteration of the new trilogy?

The dark age eliminates the verticality of the eternal to concentrate on grounded visceral struggle. With new weapons such as the shield saw and the powderizer, you have a number of ways to brutally massacify anyone who steps in your own way. While storytelling has always been secondary in the series, the latest iteration places more emphasis on this aspect. Will this increase the experience or distract the hectic shot?
