Newton Man dies after Hickory Crash, says Highway Patrol

Hickory, NC (WBTV) – A Newton man died in Hickory after a crash on Sunday afternoon, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

Soldiers said that the crash had taken place on the North Carolina Highway 127 on the US Highway 321 at 2.10 p.m.

A 1999 GMC truck, while he drove 321 to the north on the 42 exit 42 in the USA, drove from the left side of the street and hit a street sign. The truck then crossed the Highway 127 and, according to Highway Patrol, collided with the guardrail.

The driver, Joel Parks Harris, 70, from Newton, was taken to a hospital in the region where he died.

Soldiers said their first examination had no factors for the crash. The road was blocked in the area during the examination of the pre -scenes for about an hour.
