Washington -Top official of the Trump government said that after two negotiations in Geneva, they had a trade agreement with China, which marked a potentially massive victory for President Donald Trump in his trade war.

The White House announced a “China trade agreement” in a statement on May 11, but announced no details. The obvious agreement came together earlier when most observers had expected after Trump's 145% tariffs for Chinese imports practically 600 billion US dollars in the annual trade between the two largest economies in the world.

“It is important to understand how quickly we could agree, which reflects that the differences may not be as big as it might have assumed,” said the US trade representative Jamieson Greer in short comments from Geneva. “Apart from that, there were many basics that were used in these two days.”

The two days of the meetings in Switzerland were the first between the leading leaders of the United States and China, since Trump imposed the comprehensive tariffs on the Asian nation, which reacted to US exports with 125% retaliation tariffs.

When Trump started the weekend trade negotiations and signaled the willingness to reduce the US tariffs to China to 80%, it was not immediately clear whether a page agreed to lower the tariffs on the other.

“I am pleased to report that in the very important trade discussions we have made significant progress between the United States and China,” said finance Minister Scott Bessent, who headed the talks in Geneva. “We will give details tomorrow, but I can tell you that the conversations were productive.”

Bessent said that the White House would carry out a “full lettering” on the morning of May 12th to discuss details of the agreement.

“It was done in the spirit of cooperation, common interests, mutual respect, and we look forward to sharing the details with you tomorrow morning,” said Bessent.

China's deputy Prime Minister, whom he described the meetings as “open, detailed, detailed and constructive” and said that “significant progress was made and an important consensus was achieved,” said the Chinese state media.

Lifeng said the two sides have agreed to establish an “economic and trade consultation mechanism in China-USA”, and that both parties “complete the relevant details as quickly as possible” and will release a joint explanation on May 12th.

Trump, who was in Washington during the trade negotiations, did not comment on the deal, but in a social post of truth the day before “great progress” from the conversations he described as “total reset”.

Trump picked out China, which in the United States exported almost 300 billion US dollars more than imported when the top perpetrator of a US dollar -Deficit of 1.2 trillion US dollars he claimed that US production decimated. Trump defended his tariffs as the key to reviving the processing trade.

“We are confident that the deal we have met with our Chinese partners will help us to solve and solve this national emergency,” said Greer.

A contract with China would continue the dynamics of the White House after Trump concluded a trade agreement between the United States and the United Kingdom on May 8. This was the first deal to be achieved by his government when Trump's business team negotiates trade policy with more than 170 countries.

The negotiations were triggered by Trump at the beginning of April, which was imposed in most countries in most countries, with China being hit with the steepest tariffs.

With the US contract with Great Britain, the ninth largest US trade partner, Trump contributed a basic tariff of 10% to British imports, including the taxes for British automobiles from 25% to 10%. The United Kingdom agreed to reduce or eliminate several “non-tariff” trading barriers that disabled the US trade with Great Britain.
