Donovan Mitchell injury update: Cavalier's star to get the MRI on the left ankle

Donovan Mitchell was the only ray of hope for the Cleveland Cavaliers in her first three playoff games against the Indiana Pacers. Mitchell scored an average of 41.3 points per game in the second round in game 4. When he entered on Sunday, his dominance was her only consistent strength against an Indiana team that was at the perfect time. And then, in game 4, everything fell apart for the cavs.

The Pacers decided on the Cavaliers. They were 80-39 at halftime (that 41-points gap for the largest half-time lead in playoff history) and won at the age of 20. In order to violate the insult, Mitchell did not really look out of the changing room before the second half. He tried to take a few pictures, but did not look comfortable. After all, he was not on the pitch or even on the Cavs bench when the second half started.

He missed the second half with an injury to his left ankle, the team said. After the game, coach Kenny Atkinson said that Mitchell would get an MRI on Monday and he “had no idea” his status for the 5th game on Tuesday.

The Cavaliers opened in game 5 as eight-point favorites on Fanduel, although Mitchell's status was unclear.

While Mitchell's availability is uncertain, we can say that Cleveland probably doesn't win this series if Mitchell has to miss games. Cleveland has to win three games in a row, including one in Indiana, to reach the final of the Eastern Conference. Darius Garland, Evan Mobley and De'andre Hunter play all injuries and missed game 2. This team was already working considerably less than full strength, but Mitchell was so good that he kept them in the mix.

Without him? This season at 64 victories could come to an end.
