AJ PUK from Diamondbacks avoids an operation after elbow injury

Phoenix-Arizona Diamondback's left-handed AJ PUK will not operate on his injured left elbow. Manager Torey Lovullo confirmed reporters after an 8: 3 loss at the New York Mets on Tuesday.

On April 19, PUK put the diamondbacks on the 15-day injured list of the left-wing elbow inflammation. Two days later he had an MRI and was looking for additional medical opinions from Neal Elattrache and Keith Meister, two renowned orthopedic surgeons.

Lovullo said PUK would not throw the next two to three weeks and take a ball asymptomatic.

“There is no surgery that is great news,” said Lovullo. “As soon as he becomes asymptomatic, we will bring it to the next level. I don't want to be too far ahead. These two to three weeks of closing, no throwing, just treatment and simply get well.”

This season Puk joined a significant back-end role for the Bullpen and split the possibilities of saving with the right-handed Justin Martinez. The Diamondbacks decided on a more detailed BY MATCHUP approach until someone separated themselves, which worked pretty well.

The 6-foot 7-south paws performed eight appearances this year before he landed on the IL and worked a 3.38-e-for four parades.

Last year he was one of the most dominant relief supplies in MLB after he had acquired the D-Backs at the Miami Marlin trade-the prospects of Deyvison de Los Santos and Andrew Pintar for PUK.

PUK made 30 appearances in which he took fifth place in MLB with a strike rate of 44.4% and took an ERA of 1.32 in ERA.

With PUK on the IL and Joe Mantiply, which was sent to Triple-A Reno, Jalen Beeks was the only south paw in the bullpen.

The Bullpen from Diamondbacks withdrawn Kevin Ginkel on Tuesday from the injured list, while Kendall comes back to Graveman and faces Live -Hitter.
