A's Southpaw leaves the Yankees game with injury

In the eighth inn of the athletics Blowout competition against the New York Yankees, A's left-handed TJ McFarland left the game after reporting the first basis during a groundout by Austin Wells. The first Baseman of A, Nick Kurtz, turned the ball to McFarland, and the left hobbled out of his pocket after the game.

McFarland went back to the hill to try to develop. After a warm -up field, however, the veteran decided to return too much to the shelter with his injury to continue playing. The severity of the injury and how long it will go out is currently unknown.

Mark Kotsay, manager of A, said after the game that McFarland's obvious ankle injury, the first step, which he took first to cover. The team plans to make McFarland an MRI to determine the severity of the injury, and the hope that he will not be gone because of a longer absence. “Hopefully we get good news.”

The left -hander performed in 18 games this season this season in 2025. During this time he holds an ERA of 5.23 ERA with four strikeouts and a whip of 1.74. Last year he appeared in 79 games and organized an ERA of 3.81 for Oakland. The 35-year-old completed a one-year contract last at the last season to play in West Sacramento for the A's in her first season. Since the club lost the left -handed Scott Alexander to the Rocky Mountains in Free Agency, the A of A really need McFarland to hold the decisive role of the left -hander in Bullpen for Mark Kotsay.

If McFarland has to miss the extended time and need a stay on the injured list, the A's Jacob Lopez have as a lonely left-hander on the 40-man squad in Triple-A. Otherwise, Hogan Harris will be the only left in the bullpen of A. Ken Waldichuk and Brady Basso both start to throw, so that both south paws could also join the team a little further.

Hopefully McFarland only needs some peace and will be back pretty soon, but as Kotsay spoke about the injury, it sounds as if he could be outside for at least a few weeks. The team has an off-day on Monday and it is urgently needed for the bright up ball club.

From the left-handed people of the non-list, Ben Bowden has had the best season in Triple-A so far and published an ERA of 1.04 (3.65 FIP) with the aviator in 17.1 Innerings of work. The only concern is that it has a floor ball rate of only 22.5%, while his HR/9 rate is 0.52. It is possible that he will be a little luck with these fly balls, which he lets stay in the stadium.
