Mcquigge and Cava each score 2 goals, frost defeated ScepTres 7-5, take the 2-1 series lead

St. Paul, Minn. – Brooke McQuigge and Michela Cava scored two goals on Sunday evening and the Minnesota Frost defeated the Toronto Sceptres 7: 5 to take on a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five-final series.

The frost, which achieved the series in game 2 with a 5: 3 victory, can rise to the PWHL championship on Wednesday with a win in game 4.

Liz Schepers, Lee Stecklein and Sophie Jaques also scored goals for Minnesota, and Taylor Heise had three templates.

Anna Kjellbin scored her first PWHL goal with 14:13 to reduce the deficit from Toronto to 5: 4, but Cava replied less than two minutes later with a backhand goal and then scored a power play goal to achieve it with 10:39 with 7: 4.

Maddie Rooney had 18 parades in her second win in a row for the frost

Daryl Watts achieved about five minutes in the first period for the sceptres. Maggie Connors added a goal at the beginning of the second, and Kali Flanagan's goal made it 5: 3 in the third.

Blayre Turnbull received the goals with 7:56 to the left.

Kristen Campbell had 17 parades for Toronto.

After Schepers had opened the goal with 2:33 in the game, Mcquigge and Petzlein scored 52 seconds to score it 3-0 a little more than five minutes later and never add up the frost.

The frost was 2 for 4 for power games, while Toronto was 0 for 2. Minnesota converted 5 out of 9 power playing options in the series compared to 2 of 6 for the sceptres.

The series remains in the XCEL Energy Center for Game 4 on Wednesday.
