Successful water rescue on the Pyramid Lake underlines the importance of safety equipment

Last weekend, the Sheriff's office received a request for support from the Pyramid Lake police authority for a possible water rescue on the Pyramid Lake near Anahoe Island. Two females had made paddleboarding when they had been blown away from the shore to the east by increasingly strong winds and could not return to land.

Two hasty team rescue swimmers and a paramedic, together with members of the Sheriff's Specialized Vehicle Unit (SVU), brought the Marine 20, reacted to the staging of the Pelican Point boat ramp, where they used and supported the two stranded paddlebreaks.

With the support of the Pyramid Lake PD, who maintained visual contact with the two subjects via binoculars, Marine 20 was able to quickly locate and call up the two paddle tribes, which had been blown almost 6 miles by strong winds.

Everyone returned intact in Pelican Point and the two women and their paddleboards were returned to their families by the Pyramid Lake police.

Starting with summer boats and water sports season, just a quick, friendly memory from the Sheriff's office to always carry a suitable personal flotation device (PFD) when you recreate our local lakes and rivers.
