Alexander was kidnapped by his base in October 7, 2023, and the attack led by Hamas, which solved the war into Gaza Strip.

Khalil al-Hayyah, a Hamas leader in Gaza, said the group has been in contact with the US government in the past few days. In a statement, he said that Hamas was ready to “start intensive negotiations immediately” in order to achieve a final deal for a long -term ceasefire, which includes an end to the war, the exchange of Palestinian prisoners and hostages in Gaza and the handover of power to Gaza to an independent group of technocrats.
