1 killed, 4 injured when SUV beats a tree on the i-4 in Volusia, says FHP

Volusia County, Fla. – A woman was killed and four people suffered serious injuries when the SUV, which they took through Volusia County, ran off the street and, according to the Florida Highway Patrol, hit a tree.

The crash occurred on Monday around 10:49 a.m. along Interstate 4 in Westbound 4 at Mile Marker 125 near Daytona Beach, Troopers said.

According to a preliminary FHP crash report, the SUV ran from the street to the left and onto the median before struck a tree and tipped over several times.

The driver and three passengers of the SUV were brought to the Halifax Health Medical Center for the treatment of serious injuries, according to the report. A fourth passenger, whom soldiers referred to as a woman, was declared dead according to the report at the crime scene.

On the inner lane of the I-4 in the west direction in the Meilenmarker 125, a roadblock was set up, Troopers said.

FHP is still investigating.
