Statue of Motörheads Lemmy Kilmister in his hometown revealed: clock

During a ceremony last Friday (May 9th), a 7.5-foot statue of the late Motörhead legend Lemmy Kilmister was presented in his English hometown Burlem (May 9).

The ceremony started on Friday at around 4 p.m. in the city center of Burslem. The Motörhead guitarist Phil Campbell present to bring Lemmy's ashes to the statue alongside the accompaniment of a Biker -Corto.

On the solemn day, fans flocked to adjacent bars and hostel to enjoy potioners to Lemmy's honor. The ceremonial celebrations included a 21-REV greeting, a tour of rarely seen Lemmy photographs on the art gallery of Bare Walls next to the statue, a performance by Motörhead tribute tape later in the evening and much more.

The statue itself is incredibly detailed and a remarkable piece that Lemmy captures in his legendary stage pose and sings upwards towards the sky with the microphone, which is unusually placed high above it. The statue was built from Staffordshire Clay by the local sculptor Andy Edwards – a long -time Motörhead fan who caught the band live during its heyday.

“It is incredible – it looks alive,” said a fan at the ceremony to BBC Radio Stoke. “If he looks at it now, he really captured Lemmy to a discount. It is brilliant.”

It is not the first time that Lemmy was immortalized in statue form. Three years ago, the Motörhead Great became a constant beacon for the participants of the French Metal Festival Hellfest and a huge Lemmy sculpture – also anchored with its ashes – now on the festival site in Clisson. In addition, a life -size statue of Lemmy lives in West Hollywood, California Rainbow Bar & Grill, where the rock legend was regular until his death in 2015.
