Charlotte, NC (WBTV) – North Carolina comes from North Carolina and NBA legend Michael Jordan to take his first trip to radio later this year.

Jordan, who is generally regarded as the greatest basketball player ever, will take part Network announced Monday.

The former owner of Charlotte Hornet's majority has remained largely out of the spotlight since retirement as a player, although he played the leading role in the 10-part Docuseries “The Last Dance”.

It is unclear what Jordan's role will look like, but NBC Sports said he would start working when the NBA season 2025-2026 is typing in October.

“I am so excited to see the NBA back on NBC,” said Jordan in a press release. “The NBA on NBC was a sensible part of my career, and I look forward to being a special contribution to the project. I look forward to seeing them all when the NBA starts on NBC this October.”

The 2025-2026 season will mark the return of the NBA to NBC Airwaves, where the league was broadcast from 1990 to 2002. Other former players who join NBC as broadcasters are Carmelo Anthony, Reggie Miller and Jamal Crawford.

Jordan has profound connections to North Carolina and is still present in the Charlotte region as co-owner of the Nascar Cup series 23xi Racing.

The 62-year-old grew up in the Wilmington area and played at the University of North Carolina before winning six NBA titles with the Chicago Bulls. He sold its majority share Of the hornets in 2023, but is still a minority owner of the team.
