First clip for Cannes directors' Fourteen Day Film 'Death does not exist'

Exclusive: Félix Dufour-Laperrières contemporary animated function Death does not existAbout a young woman who deals with how far she is prepared to change the status quo, premiere in the fourteen days of directors this week, and the deadline can reveal the first clip.

The story follows the political activist Hélène, who joins an operation who stands out in the middle of a forest with a wealthy couple in a luxury villa.

When the time comes to act, it escapes into the forest and leaves her accomplices behind. One of them, Manon, catches up with them and offers the opportunity to rethink their choice and gives them the opportunity to join the brutal attack.

“It is a story about radicalism, with all its contradictions, their hopes, their dead ends. A story born out of deep trouble, which arises from overwhelming wishes that flare up to get the world in motion-to collide with the limits of their own actions and their own inner tensions,” says Dufour-Laperrière.

“The characters recognize a clear, sometimes incompatible opposition: the impossibility of violence and the impossibility of status quo.”

Death does not exist is the filmmaker, screenwriter and producer Dufour-Laperrières fourth feature after documentary Transatlantic (2014) and animated features Ville Neuve (2018) and Archipelago (2021).

The film is co-produced by the Embuscade films and Miyu productions by the director. Best friends forever is dealing with international sales.

The UFO distribution, which published the Oscar winner animation flow in France, has acquired French rights for the film, while Maison has 4: 3 Canadian rights.

The film is also due to its debut in the fourteen -day directors of Cannes at the World Premiere at the Annecy International Film Festival.
