Thousands that were donated to the online donation campaign after the 16-year-old driver Rebecca Cespedes was killed in the Dana point crash

Dana Point, California (KABC) – Almost $ 18,000 were donated to a Gofundme donation campaign after a 16-year-old driver was killed with a pickup with several young inmates in a Dana Point crash.

The collision with a vehicle occurred on Tuesday when the truck hit a tree near Dana Point Harbor.

The driver, Rebecca Cespedes, was declared dead at the crime scene.

A 16-year-old student of the Dana Hills High School was killed and five other students were injured when a pickup fell into a tree in Dana Point.

“Rebecca was a light in the life of everyone who knew them, thoughtful, full of laughter and a free spirited soul,” said a explanation on Gofundme.com. “She had great dreams, a heart full of compassion and would do anything to smile or laugh to everyone that touched her. Her sudden loss has left an unimaginable emptiness in our hearts.”

The fundraising campaign had accumulated $ 17,904 of more than 350 donors from Monday afternoon.

Ervin Antonio Ruiz Garcia was identified as one of three high school students who were taken to the hospital after the accident. His uncle said he had suffered several injuries, including two broken ribs, and bleed internally.

Two other passengers received minor injuries.

The cause of the crash remained.
