Three killed in North Cascades

A climbing trip to Washington North Cascades became fatal late Saturday morning, which led to the death of three climbers with an injured fourth person, Kiro Newsradio confirmed.

According to the office of the Sheriff of the Okanagan district, a group of Renton rose into a steep gorge When They fell. The investigators believe that the fall was caused by a failure of the anchor system used during their abseiling.

“A group of four climbers was involved in a fall when he got down a route,” said Christina Woodworth, search and rescue coordinator of the Sheriff's Sheriff by Okanagan County, to Kiro Newsradio. “Unfortunately, three of them were died at the location of the accident, and the fourth member of the party was able to extract the law enforcement authorities themselves.”

Three of the climbers came from Renton, while the fourth came from Bellevue.

The accident occurred around 11:30 a.m. near North Early Winters Spire, a robust granite formation about 16 miles west of Mazama, directly on State Route 20 (SR 20). Experts prefer the location due to its steep and challenging site.

“They got off and had an anchor failure while opposed, and that made them all collapsed,” said Woodworth. “They were cut off in any kind of equipment and it was unable to keep their weight and it failed.”

Anchor failure in the fatal climbing case suspected

After the fatal fall, a member of the group managed to escape and to demand help. Rescue teams, including the helicopter rescue team from Snohomish County, later restored the bodies of the three dead climbers.

The law enforcement said that an investigation of the exact cause of the anchor failure has not yet been completed.
