The examination of the fatal Largo crash will take weeks, says police chief, says police chief

It can take more than two weeks before the investigators of the Largo police know who killed in a weekend accident, in which three people, including two children, were killed and Miami Hurricanes linacker Adarius Hayes, among others.

Largo's chief of police, Mike Loux, held a press conference on Monday to discuss the investigation, but declined to say whether speed was a factor when the seat belts were used and whether someone was charged criminically.

According to the Largo Police Department, the officials answered the crash on the Orangeview Drive and the Ridge Road around 1:45 p.m.

The 20 -year -old Hayes drove south in a Dodge Durango when his car hit the passenger side of a Kia soul that made a left curve.

Jabari Elijah Solomon (10) and Charlie Herbert Solomon Riveria (4) died after they were ejected from the Kia, said Loux. The 78 -year -old driver of the Kia, Gail Price, was taken to the hospital and died shortly afterwards from her injuries.

Another passenger, Herbert Riveria, 58, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. He stayed in the hospital on Monday, said Loux.

Hayes and a passenger in his car were brought to the hospital with injuries that were not life -threatening and were released on Monday, reported South Florida Sun Sentinel. A second passenger in Durango was not injured in the crash.

None of the drivers seemed to be affected, the police said.

The Largo police are still actively examining the crash, said Loux.

“We were asked to comment on several facets of the examination that we simply cannot do at this point,” said Loux. “Our focus is on ensuring that we collect all relevant facts and reconstruct the crash with all available data. As soon as this has happened, the instruction is accompanied whether quotes are issued or criminal charges are raised.”

“I would probably guess two or three weeks that we should have a good sense of instructions if charges are submitted,” he added.

Hayes was a four-star recruit that came from Largo High, and selected Miami after arousing interest from Florida, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, Notre Dame and Ohio State.

He played in 12 games as a real newcomer for Miami last season, mainly in special teams.

Price and Riveria were in a relationship, said Loux. The 4-year-old boy was his son.

At the scene of the crime was a monument for the two small children of the investigations drawn by the police. A toy car, stuffed animals and flowers leaned against white crosses with their names: Jabari and Charlie.
