The activities of the Hungary Military Intelligence Network in the Zakarpattia region were probably coordinated with the country's Prime Minister, Viktor Orban, said the former deputy head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Major General Viktor Yahun. He expressed this opinion in a comment on Liga.net For text on spy activity in Transkarpathies.

“Until 1996, the majority of officers from the countries of the former Warsaw Pact, including the Hungarian officers, at the Moscow Academy of the General Staff of the USSR and then in Russia.

He explained that this was one of the reasons why all Warsaw pact states at NATO had to clean the ranks of their special services of people who had studied or served in the Soviet era.

In Hungary, some of these officers now have leading positions in the secret services and security services. Therefore, it cannot be ruled out that they have intelligence with their “classmates from Russia”.

“This is a wake-up call, about which we have repeatedly warned our NATO partners-not all information can be transferred and not all information can be passed on,” emphasized the former deputy head of the SBU.

He did not rule out that the Hungarians could have handed over information to the Russians without the consent of the leadership in Budapest. According to Jagun, however, there is also the possibility of secret agreements between Orban and the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.

“For an operation of this level, the top management of the state gives approval. Therefore, it agreed with Orban,” he said.
