Murders rise easily, vehicle thefts drop in the first quarter of 2025 :: Wral.com

The city of Raleigh published its crime figures in the first quarter. In a press release on Tuesday, the department emphasized how important it is to inform the public about criminal trends.

In the first quarter of 2024 there were 9 murders in Raleigh. In the first quarter of 2025, this number increased to 11. In 9 of the 11 cases, however, arrests were made, and the tenth case was regarded as self -defense.

Then there are motor vehicle thefts. 592 were reported in the first quarter of 2024. In the first quarter of 2025, this number decreased to 477.

The residents said they appreciated to hear these numbers.

“It is easier to tell my mother and family how safe Raleigh is, especially if you like” Oh, how is the school? “Or if my grandmother asks me:” Okay, what's going on? “Said Samantha Blackmon, a student at NC State University.

The severe attacks and tightened attacks with firearms had also not decreased. However, robberies had increased by one case.

Wral spoke to some residents who said she was pleased to have access to these statistics and know that officials are only a call away.

“I called them and they appear, you know,” said Eugene Wilson in Raleigh.

RPD recently rolled police officers on the block, which gives the officials the opportunity to chat with the residents to build relationships.
