The sleepy driver probably led to the oil tanker in Wellington.

Wellington, Utah – a tanker filled with crude oil left the street, where he traveled through the city of Wellington early Monday. He fell into a house and sent several people to the hospital.

Shortly before 6:30 a.m., the tanker drove to the east on State Road 6 through the city when he went off the right street and collided with six vehicles that were parked in front of a car repair shop. The tanker continued through an intersection and hit a power post, a fire -hydrant and the nearby fence before he pushed into the house.

“We heard a boom and like a pop,” said resident Jan Johnson, who lives nearby.

A few in the house at that time was hit by the tanker and flown to a nearby hospital, while her 12-year-old grandson, who slept in the front room of the house, was unharmed.

Accordingly Castle Country RadioA witness said that the grandfather was ejected out of the house during the accident.

Two people in the tanker were also taken to the hospital in moderate and serious condition. The couple's conditions were not made available in the house, but none of the injuries are considered life -threatening.

“The Semi wore about 10,000 gallons of crude oil, so we are very grateful for what it could have been. It is what it is and everyone will be fine,” said Kirby.

Wellington is a city with only 1,600 inhabitants southeast of Price in Carbon County.

The Utah Highway Patrol does not yet have to publish information about what prompted the tanker to leave the street and plunge into the house, but they believe that the driver had difficulty staying awake or falling asleep at the wheel.

“It seems what the driver says that he fell asleep and went off the street,” said Kirby.
