2 Indian students killed in the US car accident, consulate in contact with families


Washington:

Two Indian students died last week in a street accident in Lancaster County, USA. The victims identified as 23-year-old Saurav Prabhakar and 20-year-old Manav Patel were students from Cleveland State University in Ohio. On May 10, they met with an accident in the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Lancaster County after leaving their vehicle and, according to the police, hit a tree before colliding with a bridge.

India's Consulate General in New York has expressed condolences about the incident and supported the mourning families in this difficult time.

“Deeply sad to learn about the unfortunate street accident, in which two Indian students from Cleveland State University, Manav Patel and Saurav Prabhakar, lost their lives,” the consulate released on X (formerly Twitter).

“Our thoughts and prayers are with their families in this difficult time. The consulate is in contact with the families and has assured them of all possible help,” added.

How the accident happened

Pennsylvania's police said that the accident was around 7 a.m. around 7 a.m. around 7 a.m. around 7 a.m. around 7 a.m. when the vehicle crashed into the turnpike and then hit a bridge.

Saurav Prabhakar drove the vehicle while Manav Patel was a passenger, as can be seen from a report by Lancasteronline.

Both men were immediately declared dead. The forensic doctor's report said that they died of several traumatic injuries and their death was ruled.

There was another unknown person in the vehicle with them who was brought to the Reading Hospital. Their condition is unknown, the report says.
