This wild, lively and hallucinogenic video by the Korean artist Sujin Kim (with live action sequences of Au Matt) serves as the perfect funhouse mirror for the pastios of the band Kiwi Hug from Ska, Drum and Bass, Pop and Post-Punk sounds. How for the action? Something about Icky Green Snail creatures that try to devour the Kiwi coniding band members. The duo is captured and transformed into felt stone creatures. Kim remembered the origins of the project and said that she was originally inspired by the title and melody of the song.

I had the feeling that a story in which the main characters grew up in a hurricane of events would fit perfectly with the atmosphere. One of the strongest ideas that occurred to me The space giants (1966). Since the story plays in a strange village, I thought it would be interesting not to show the typical, looking monsters like dinosaurs, but rather weak -looking creatures such as snails that turn out to be really dangerous. This idea became the basis of the development of history.

In terms of technology and the visual design of the video, KIM adds:

I wanted to avoid extremely sophisticated and polished designs. Instead, I aimed at something rough with a handmade quality that I find very charming. I used Zbrush for the green creatures to form them in a way that keeps the handmade feeling. Then I worked on the textures in the substance painter, around a subtle, between plastic and sound in between and between pitch.

Sujin Kim (also known as Fom Fom) is a filmmaker and illustrator in Seoul, Korea. She studied visual communication design in Seoul and works through music videos, short animations, illustrations and media wall art with video as her primary medium. Their work examines the sensitive feelings and wishes of human nature and interweaves them in visually convincing stories.
