“She was more than an 18-year-old high school; she was a beautiful, young, talented girl,” said Muth's explanation. “She knew exactly the right words and when to say.

“She wanted to be a pediatrician,” continued the explanation. “Everything she ever wanted was to help those who needed help. She always made everyone smile and happy. She didn't see life like everyone else. She saw the bright light in the pitch black dark.”

Davis Public Schools recognized Osmundson's death in a letter that was shared on Facebook on Sunday, May 11th.

“This devastating loss is deeply noticeable in our entire school community, especially in the senior class from 2025,” says the letter.

“Our deepest sympathy goes to Averiees family, friends and our entire school community,” added the letter. “Please keep your loved ones in your thoughts and asked in this incredibly difficult time.”

Cassie Muth, Osmundson's aunt, said Kotv that the family was shaken by what happened.

“She was only two miles away from her house,” said Muth.

Muth remembered her niece because she had an amazing heart.

“She could always put a smile on the face. She was very adventurous, very sociable,” said Muth.

“To be honest, I am still incredulous that at such a young age she was taken with so much potential and a lot before her,” she said via Kotv.
