Several members of the Houston family who were killed in Leon County in the event of weekend accidents on the I-45

Leon County, Texas -Several members of the same family in Houston were killed in an accident on the I-45 near the city of Leona in Leon County on Saturday.

According to the Texas Ministry of Public Security (DPS), the crash occurred on Saturday at around 3:17 p.m. on Interstate 45 near FM 977.

Officials say that a Dodge-Pickup traveled south in 2016 when he walked from the street to the right, hit a guard area, walked across the street into the median, thrown over the cable barrier and hit a 2023 Ford F-1550.

Both vehicles caught fire after the crash.

The driver of the Ford, Hermenegildo Melendez, 55, from Houston, was declared dead by Leon County Justice of the Peace Jeff Carr.

The passengers Veronica Cerda, 53, from Houston; Veronica Denise Cerda, 26, from Houston; Rebecca Cerda, 20, from Houston; And Daniela Cerda, 18, from Houston, were also declared dead at the crime scene.

The driver of the Dodge, the Toriano Fair, 43, from Dallas, was transported to the Chi St. Joseph Regional Hospital with alleged serious injuries.
