Delyth Evans was confirmed as chair of the Welsh channel

The Department of Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) also announced the appointment of five new members to the S4C board – Dr. Gwenllian Lansdown Davies, Dyfrig Davies, Wyn Innes, Betsan Powys and Carryn Ramasut.

The DCMS said that two of the candidates have worked with Plaid Cymru in the past – Gwenllian Davies was a city council until 2011 and the party's managing director between 2007 and 2011.

She is also the managing director of the early year's Welsh language training, Mudiad Meithrin.

The former managing director of the television company, Dyfrig Davies, had set for the party, although the explanation stated that this had not been the case for at least 10 years.

Before politics, Evans was a journalist at ITV-Broadcaster HTV Wales and worked on the current matters program Y BYD AR Bedwar for S4C.

Powys is a former political editor of BBC Wales and former editor of the Welsh radio and online services of the BBC.

The managing director of S4C, Geraint Evans, said: “Delyth brings a wealth of leadership and governance experience and a passion to see the Welsh language in every corner of the country.

“Together with the rest of the S4C team, I am very happy to work with Delyth when we start a new chapter in our history.”

The selection of the job is the responsibility of the British government, which was accused of risking “public trust in Welsh media” from a high -ranking Welsh conservative due to the work background of Evans.
