Patrick Keleher about Seth's injury, deleted scene, Lucy and Nolan as training officers (exclusive)

[Warning: The below contains MAJOR spoilers for The Rookie Season 7 Episode 16 “The Return.”]

Apparently Seth (Patrick Keleher) lasted to be honest with his employees, and returned to find that everyone avoids him, prove themselves and were seriously injured and, as a result, lost his leg at work.

“He was so obvious,” says Keleher TV insider as part of our Booked: the rookie after -show Follow for Tuesday, April 29. “This is the only time, I think pretty much the entire season in which he has to leave everything on the table, and he finally says the truth.”

Seth returns to work, and nobody is happy about the point where everyone turns his back when he goes into the station. “I had to go to go to New York because I made a piece of name called FatherlandAnd we did an off-broadway run, and that was my conflict, “explains Keleher.” When I was done, I came back and shot episode 16. I remember that I said it: “It doesn't feel right. It feels like I really avoided. 'And yes, it was a bit too real.”

There was originally a scene before: Tamara (Dylan Conrique) that broke him off. “This is how the episode should open. And in this scene they only had this conversation. She says:” You can do it “, and we can see a little more in her relationship,” reveals Keleher.

Seth's first time he had Lucy (Melissa O'Neil) as his training officer. This time it is Nolan (Nathan Fillion) and he saves his life during a shootout (which leads to the injury that means that his leg is amputated). How much was he that he tried to prove himself, and how much could it have been a look at who Seth really is and can, if he stops doing, as he says, what he always does and makes a victim?

“I think he didn't try to prove himself. I think that was a very natural instinct, he just saw and he was acting as he did, of course,” says Keleher. “He is a good child in his heart, just a little confused in the head.”

But his character has now changed, he continues and loses his leg “the biggest” to do this. Keleher doesn't know. “I would say quite damaged. I don't know where he is. In this last monologue he says:” Nobody at the train station wants me anymore. That's it. I'm done. I'm done. “And nobody tries to cheer him up and says:” No, age, you have a second chance. So I don't know where it is. “
