Chicago Crime: Man who was shot by the CPD officer, who is charged for assault

A 21-year-old suburban man who was shot by the police on the west side on Saturday was accused of attacking officials and gun ownership.

Kewion Kingcade from Carol Stream was charged according to the Chicago Police Department for serious bodily harm of a peace representative and severe illegal possession of a weapon.

The background story:

The shootout occurred around 10:40 p.m. in the 1900 Block of North Austin Avenue when the police tried to dispel a large group of people.

Kingcade supposedly fled to officers who persecuted him. The police said he had a gun and “turned in the direction” of the officials.

An officer shot and hit him. He was shot into his legs and hand.

It was brought to the Loyola Hospital in fair state. The police recovered a weapon at the scene.

Kingcade was taken into custody and charged.

It is expected to appear in court on Tuesday.
