George Strait mourns the loss of the death of a Texas artist who inspired him

George Strait mourns the loss of a pioneer in the world of Texas Country Music.

On Monday (May 12th) he shared a memory of Johnny Rodriguez, a country legend that died last week at the age of 73. In the 1970s, he was one of the first Hispanic Stars of Country Music as a CMA award winner and member of the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame of the CMA Prize.

But Rodriguez was more than just a star for the king of the country. He gave a young road hope for his own dreams of pursuing Country Music Fame as a Texan.

In an explanation in his Instagram stories, the singer said that he and his wife Norma were “so sad” since they had learned about Rodriguez 'death.

“He was an inspiration for me from the start,” considered Strait.

“When I came from South Texas myself, it gave me so much hope to know that he had become such a great success,” the singer continued. “Maybe that was hope for a man like me.

“What a great talent he was,” continued Strait. “God bless his family, friends and fans. You will be missing, Amigo.”

Rodriguez broke the 1973 Top 10 hit “Pass me by (if you just go through) broke into the start of the land.” He then scored three consecutive No. 1 goal and continued to go on the charts in the 80s to mark impressive charts successes, especially as a Texas country artist.
