The organization said on Monday that three separate families claimed to be involved after a crowdfunding campaign to support the child. However, the first two families were discredited after another family was in the police after a community center organized by the NAACP last week.

However, the situation only became more complicated when a third family turned to the NAACP on May 8th after the town hall. The NAACP advised the family to immediately turn with the local police.

“New evidence from the city of Rochester's police department last weekend showed that the second family was not the right family of sacrifices,” wrote the Rochester Naacp. The local police, added to the group, has since “confirmed with 100% trust that the third family was the right family.”

The Rochester police did not immediately answer specific questions about the examination, and only said that the department “received new information that has been conflict with original statements about this incident”.
