Rumor: New leak can explain why so many switches are 2 physical game key cards

One of the biggest topics in Switch 2 was broken Nintendo's new game cards from Game. For those who missed it, these physical cartridges do not contain the game itself, but a download key to digitally access the title. We have already seen this format for Street Fighter 6, Split Fiction, Star Wars Outlaws and many other titles confirmed, and now a new leak could explain why (thank you, Gizmodo).

Last week, Dexerto reported that Guilty Gear Strive Developer Arc System Works had been chopped, which led to a boat load of LECKS with regard to the upcoming titles and updates of the studios. According to the Leaker and Universo Nintendo-Editor @Necrolipe, information from the hack suggests that Nintendo only offers very limited format options for switching from third-party providers and may explain why so many of the option for game keys on the game key cards.

According to @Necrolipes tweet (via Google Translate), studios only have three options when it comes to starting on switch 2: a release only for digital, a game key card (with the code name “Potion” in the leak) or a 64 GB cartridge.

If the leak is true and a 64 -GB car is really the only choice to physically publish a complete game on Switch 2, it makes sense that developers would choose the key card solution about the inflated costs of the higher storage option.

For Switch 1 Bot Nintendo Studios offered 8 GB and 16 GB cart options for physical releases, which means that a full-on-full-card publication is cheaper and easier to make, which makes the increasing development costs easier. If these cheaper picks are not available for Switch 2, regardless of how small the game is, why should you pay the additional space?

This is not the first time that we have heard of 64 GB Switch 2 cartridges -CD Project Red Has announced that Cyberpunk 2077 shortly afterwards for Switch 2 on a 64 -GB car would be complete -but that does not mean that we are only ready to take this rumor without salt. 64 GB can be that maximum Storage for a switch 2 carts, but with titles by the first providers, who are reported to package much smaller file sizes, we would be surprised if this is only Option.

On the other hand, the Mario house could hold the smaller carts for itself. Our point is that everything is still very unclear at the moment, so we hesitate to consider the above as “the truth” until we hear something concrete. We contacted Nintendo to get a comment on the available cart sizes and we will update them when we hear something as an answer.
