Luol Deng was pretty much a career – and life.

The 6-foot 9-inch star was born in South Sudan in the war and finally fled with his family out of the country to settle in Brixton, South London.

The British basketball icon played College Hoops for the Duke Blue Devils and was seventh in the NBA design in 2004 by the Phoenix Sun.

According to all reports, he had a rather outstanding NBA career, which included two all-star appearances (his first in 2005 as a 19-year-old) and a place in the NBA-all-defensive team in 2012.

In the course of his 15-year NBA career, Deng played for the bulls, cavaliers, heat, Lakers and Timberwolves.

He ended his career with 13,361 points, 5,468 rebounds and 2,042 assists, but is best remembered for one of the worst player contracts in the NBA history.

In 2016, the Los Angeles Lakers Deng signed a four-year contract worth $ 72 million.

He only played a total of 57 games in the famous purple and gold, but the Tinseltown team continued to pay his wages long after his departure.

In order to open a salary room, Deng's contract was restructured for two more seasons in 2018, which means that the Lakers had to pay him for six years instead of four.

Deng traveled to Timberwolves in 2018, but his restructured contract costs cost LA millions.

The contract was so bad (from the perspective of the Lakers) that in 2022 he was the team's fifth highest player, although he retired three years earlier.

In 2019, Deng and his teammate Derrick Rose at the time were about to close a $ 25.6 million deal for 354 apartment buildings in Chicago.

Deng is a British basketball icon and it is astonishing to see how it returns so much of the wealth that he has generated.

Now two of his former teams compete in the NBA playoffs, albeit with mixed results.

Deng's former Cavs are currently 3-1 against the Indiana Pacers in the semi -finals of the Eastern Conference.
