Lanna Robinson from Davies Varsity Soccer team achieved a fantastic performance when she scored on May 5 during Davie's 4-0 home victory.
It was goal no. 20 for the second scorer of the CPC. Robinson is only the fifth different war eagle to score 20 goals in one season, and most goals have been in 11 years.
The 20 goal club includes: Allison Howell 28 in 2003, Howell 25 in 2001, Brooke Hedgspeth 25 in 2014, Brittany Walker 21 in 2001, Melissa Agrillo 21 in 1996, Howell 20 in 2002.
“It was a big moment,” said coach Corbin Kopetzky. “Lanna knew before the game that she was a way, but she is a team player and she focused on winning.”
Makenna McGowan converted two goals and Lydia Postell had one when Davie Glenn (3-16) with the same score as the first meeting flowed out.
Reynolds 3, Davie 1
Robinson continued to build a game with a game in the first half at her special season, but the visiting demons used a penalty and held Davie on May 7 in the last game of the regular season.
It was 1-1 at half-time after Postell's team-high eighth assist of the season broke at the eighth eight-eight assist of the season when the demons were freed in the middle of the field and they broke Davies with the PK back.
“A PK was given to them,” said Kopetzky. “In this scenario it is difficult to say what the result could have been because the advantage of the shooter would have been instead of the goalkeeper.”
Everyone knew that it could be in both directions after the teams were tied 1-1 on April 9. Kopetzky had only a few complaints.
“The referee gave a PK,” he said. “We fought. I don't think the score shows how close the game was actually.”
Notes: Although the loss held the war eagles on the third, was a tie for fourth place in 20 years in 20 years of their best CPC finish (draw for third place in 2005). The evaluation: West Forsyth 13-1, East Forsyth 11-2-1, Mt. Tabor 8-4-2, Reynolds/Davie 7-5-2, Reagan 4-9-1, Glenn 2-12, Parkland 0-14. … while Reynolds improved to 10-7-3 in total, Davie slipped to 11-5-3. … Davie played his third full game without a newcomer Gricyn Coleman, who suffered a left knee injury in the first seconds against West Forsyth on April 28th. Unfortunately, the Colemans know this pain too well. Gracyn's high -ranking brother, recipient Braddock, tore off in the first half of the 2024 football opening in Mooresville and missed practically throughout the season. At least Gracyn has three years with Davie. “Thirty -eight seconds after the game,” said Kopetzky. “She has an operation (this) week. She was great for us. In some of the narrow games she was a difference in the back. She complemented herself well. She was to open some other things. Sometimes we played a three-man back. Although she is a freshman, I really trusted her.”
