EFCC chairman provides protection, prayer of prosperity in viral video

From the fight against crime, not many know that the chairman of the Commission for Economic and Financial Crimes, EFCC, Olanipekun Olukoyede, is a deeply religious man.

If he does not pursue the mandate of the corporation, which includes the determination and persecution of economic and finance crimes in Nigeria, he serves as a pastor in the redeemed Christian Church of God's city of the refugee in Lagos, Nigeria.

According to the church websiteThe EFCC chairman holds a “breakthrough and liberation service” every last Saturday at 7 a.m.

One of these meetings showed a trend video by the leading chief for financial crimes in which he provided his communities severe prayers of prosperity.

Fervent prayers

In the undated 2-minute clip, the EFCC boss listens to his members for prosperity and protection.

In what many consider ironic, Mr. Olukoyede is heard, who is prayed for favor and financial blessings.

They argue that combating financial crime and praying for prosperity should not go together.

Others are wondering why owners of key positions in the current administration belong to the RCCG.

Mr. Olukoyede will pray: “I pray that you will thrive in all the works of your hand. You will be fruitful. In every good thing of life you will multiply in the mighty name of Jesus.

“Because of this anointing, no arrow of illness will come near you. If you fire it, it will backfire in the mighty name of Jesus. I will give every terminal disease in anyone here to dry.”

He also prayed for divine health, God's lasting presence and protection in all their efforts.

“Your fruit is blessed. Your children are blessed. Your family is blessed. The works of your hand are blessed. So it should be in the name of God, Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. We have prayed in Jesus' names. Amen.

Corruption in churches

In 2024, Mr. Olukoyede was alleged that some religious organizations in Nigeria are “more corrupt” than public offices.

The head of the fight against crime spoke at an RCCG leadership conference in Lagos and revealed that his organization restored millions of Naira from a religious organization.

Mr. Olukoyede asked the clerics to preach their platform and to use a good character for their community.

“I had reason to recover how many millions from a religious organization have appointed them a pastor. When they become a big man. We don't know what they are doing to make a living.

“Some religious organizations are more corrupt than public offices. I have evidence of this.
