Man who is to be convicted of drunk driving accident in 2023, in whom the sleeping 8-year-old boy was killed in Absecon, New Jersey

Absecon, NJ (WPVI) – A man is expected to be convicted of a drunk driver on Tuesday who killed an 8-year-old boy in New Jersey.

The 25 -year -old Edward Johnston guilty, because of the fatal crash in Absecon, who was killed in Javier “Javi” Velez in July 2023.

It happened when the boy was on a fishing trip with his father.

After Johnston found himself guilty of severe manslaughter and Dui, he will host 15 years in prison up to the 11th year without the possibility of probation.

Javi slept in his father's car on the USA 30 and the Absecon Boulevard when his brother and father fished in the early morning hours of July 23, 2023.

Fishing was a passion for the whole family.

Johnston, who was not only an impairment and an SMS, but also drove down the motorway at 107 miles per hour, descended from the street and hit the parked vehicle to kill the boy inside.

Johnston was charged with homicide and Dui.

Despite the serious charges, Johnston was left out against a deposit to stand in court, which resulted in public outrage and criticism.

Now the legislators are working on closing this so -called “gap” by proposing the legislation that revoked the license and even confiscated the vehicle of a defendant who is suspended with such charges.
